Society, political ideas, and the history of technology of modern and contemporary Japan
As a specialist in the social and intellectual history of modern and contemporary Japan, my goal is to analyze and reconstruct the links between theory and praxis in pre- and postwar Japanese society. In my research I intend to explore a range of issues on themes including the political agency of workers in prewar socialist movements, the transformation of political thought in postwar social movements, attitudes toward the environment among the “post-'68” New Left, and the use of microcomputer technology in 1980s and 90s Japan.
